The Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins are playing at Target Field for two games on Thursday in a doubleheader and the baseball matchup in the afternoon starts up at 1:10 pm ET and has RA Dickey on the mound as the AL East surprise team tries to continue their solid play this season.
The Blue Jays have been playing over expectations in the early goings and they are right behind the Yankees after New York was able to sweep the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. The Blue Jays are in second place in the AL East and the Twins have played much better as well and they are in the mix in the AL Central, as they have the same amount of wins as the leading Tigers. The team has low expectations for the season and they could surprise everyone if they continue to play well.
The team comes in ranked 15th in runs this season and they are 19th in batting average and they have their main man Dickey on the mound before Dustin McGowan on Thursday and he will face off against Mike Pelfrey. The team has been solid in the rotation and they have a 3.56 ERA to start the season and they are keeping opponents under .250 hitting right now in the early goings and they are hoping Dickey can return to his Cy Young form and right now he is 1-2 on the season and has the chance to add another decision.
The Blue Jays were able to add five runs in the sixth inning to beat the Twins and Brett Lawrie did his part with a grand slam and that set the team up for the win on Tuesday before the PPD on Wednesday and now they will play two. The Twins are fourth in the AL Central and they come in at seventh in the league in runs scored and that is a surprise early on and they are ranked third in the league in on base percentage as well and 20th in slugging percentage. The pitching has been terrible and the team needs to worry about that, as they are now 29th in ERA and quality starts and 27th in the league in BAA and WHIP.
