The Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres are playing at Petco Park on Thursday night to end their MLB NL West series matchup and the teams start up at 6:40 pm ET and Ian Kennedy will face off against Franklin Morales as the Padres try to continue their hot play and they look to win three of four games here and six of eight overall.
The Padres have rebounded from a slow start and they will try and keep that rolling on Thursday and they come into the game at 7-8 overall this season and 5-4 at home and they are playing a 7-9 team in the Rockies that is just 3-7 away from Coors Field. The team comes into the game after losing to Andrew Cashner on Wednesday and the game was lost by Jorge De La Rosa for the Rockies and they are looking to get a win as they start a series on Friday with the Philadelphia Phillies and that will send the team back home for that game.
The Rockies come into the game hitting very well this season, but the pitching has been mostly a mess and that is why they are fourth in the division right now. The team is killing the ball and they are first in batting average and on base percentage and they are second in slugging and third in runs with nearly 80, but they need the pitching to get in line as well. The team next plays against the Phillies and that series starts up on Friday and the pitching comes in ranked 27th in ERA 21st in quality starts and 25th in BAA and they need that to turn around fast.
The Padres won 4-2 in the last game and now they are coming in struggling hard hitting the ball, as they are 27th in runs, 24th in batting average and 29th in on base percentage and they are also in the bottom part of the league in slugging. The pitching has started to come around and they are now fifth in team ERA in the league and 15th in quality starts and they are in the top 10 in BAA and 12th in WHIP.
