The Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs are playing in the NBA playoffs on Sunday and the game on TNT is streaming live online from the AT&T Center and has the best team in the league trying to get started on the right foot, as the Spurs were the number one seed in the west and will play against their fellow Texas team as the eighth seed as they try to get to another championship finals.
The Spurs have been very impressive this season and they won 19 games in a row at one point and their 62 wins were the most in the NBA this season and they won over 60 games for the fourth time in a decade and the Big 3 of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker are trying to make one more title run and they will have to stop Dirk Nowitzki to get it done and he is one player that can take over a series on his own and that is what the team will have to look out for and he comes in after shooting nearly 50 percent this season and he averaged over 20 points again and he could be a huge thorn in the side of the Spurs.
The Spurs come into the playoffs after losing the last game of the season against the Lakers but that saw the bench players play most of the game and now they matchup with the Mavs in the opening series for the playoffs. The team ranked in the top 10 in most relevant categories this season and the team was sixth in scoring with over 105 points per game and that was new for the team and they also were sixth in defense while allowing just 97 points per game and their defense will be one of the keys in the game, as the Spurs have the ability to shutdown the offense of any team and while Dirk is amazing, he is still only one dude.
The Mavericks ended the season with a tough loss to the Grizzlies and that put them in the eighth spot in the playoffs and the team was one of the best offensive ones in the league and Dirk ended the year with another 20 points game and the team comes in eighth in the league in scoring and they put in nearly 105 points per game and the series could hinge on the defense. The Mavs ranked 20th in points allowed per game and they were 26th in rebounding and they allow over 102 points per game and that won't get things done against the Spurs and they also ranked sixth in assists per game and they will have to play their best basketball of the season to even come close to winning this series.
