Cleveland Browns Rumors: Vince Young Tryout as Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles Backup? Ryan Nassib, Mike Glennon Trades Target Over Rookie Starter

The Cleveland Browns are keeping things interesting when it comes to their future quarterback. They cleaned house at the start of free agency, releasing both Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell, both of whom spent time as the starter last year. Now they have injured Brian Hoyer and tick-shot specialist Alex Tanney. Projected to draft a quarterback in the first round, the Browns are also looking at a few surprising free agents as options.

Vince Young is back, back again. The quarterback who was once the No. 3 overall pick back in 2006 has not played in an NFL game since 2011. He has dealt with numerous off-the-field issues and has failed to make some type of comeback in the league, until now. According to Mark Berman of FOX 26 Houston, Young will participate in a minicamp for the Cleveland Browns that could turn into a contract spot if he does well.

The interest makes sense. Right now, Hoyer is the projected starter and he is coming off a season that ended early with an ACL tear. Hoyer certainly proved that he could start if healthy and help the Browns while a rookie develops, but the status of his health is unknown and the Browns need players when training camp begins. Outside of Hoyer is Tanney who is really not an option. Owner Jimmy Haslam spent time with the Titans and witnessed the Pro Bowl season in 2006 and 2009 from Young. He knows that the quarterback has some kind of talent in him. That knowledge is now carrying into Cleveland.

The Young tryout does not mean much for the Cleveland draft. The team will take a quarterback in the first round. Right now they could grab just about anyone since they have two picks to work with. Either Johnny Manziel or Blake Bortles will find themselves a Brown next year. Young could end up being their backup, but nothing more. Considering his absence from the game, even making the practice squad would be a win.

The Browns also have the options of trades for either Mike Glennon or Ryan Nassib. Right now both players are considered better than any rookie in the draft and given they each have experience under their belts, would they be the best option to face the franchise?
