The Seattle Mariners and the NY Yankees are playing on the MLB schedule on Tuesday night and the matchup at 7:05 pm ET in the Bronx has the New York return for Robinson Cano after he signed with the M's in the offseason and the matchup will be streaming online from the MLB.com main website and it will be interesting to see if he gets boos at first from the usually classy Yankee fans and it will be on TV from MLB Network.
Cano deserves some boos no doubt, but on his first at-bat he should get applause for the World Series he helped the team win and now the Mariners are looking to get back on track after a rough couple of weeks. Things were helped along by Kyle Seager, who won player of the week after bashing some home runs and he had two against the Rangers in a win for the M's and that was just their second series win of the season so far after opening with a sweep of the Angels.
Chris Young and CC Sabathia will be on the mound for the teams and Seattle comes in at 10-14 on the season and the Yankees are in first place in their division with a 15-10 record and now they will be looking to beat up on their former teammate. Cano hit very well at Yankee Stadium and now he has the chance to return to the team where he once played and the Yankees will be ready for him and Sabathia will have to pitching against him now in a different uniform.
The Yankees come into the game after a win against the Angles and that saw the fourth save for David Robertson and now the team is getting ready after a day off. Cano will be the main attraction, but the Yankees are looking to just win and they will have David Phelps on the mound for the game on Wednesday and he will be against Roenis Elias before Felix Hernandez pitches on Thursday for that game.
The Yankees have been hitting the ball very well and they are ranked 14th in the league in runs and sixth in batting average and they are also ninth in both on base and slugging percentage. The Mariners are five games back in their division and the hitting has been bad, as they are ranked 25th in runs and 26th in batting average and they are also 28th in on base and 22nd in slugging. The Mariners pitching has kept them afloat despite numerous injuries and the Yankees are ranked in the middle of the pack in pitching as well, as they are 22nd in ERA and 16th in quality starts.
The Mariners have slumped on offense and they are hoping the bats wake up at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night as they start up a three game series.
