MLB Standings 2014: AL and NL Division Leaders With Baseball Schedule Into May After April 30

The MLB Standings in 2014 heading into May after the first month of the season has AL and NL division leaders in the NY Yankees, Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants with the final day of the month on Wednesday, April 30.

The American League east has the New York Yankees in first place by two games and they are ahead of the Baltimore Orioles, while the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays and everyone in the division is within five games. The Yankees have 15 wins and they are second in the league to the Oakland Athletics, who are leading the AL West over the Texas Rangers, LA Angels, Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros.

The AL Central has the Detroit Tigers in first place and that is the closest division in the league, as the Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals are just two games back, while the Chicago White Sox are three back and the Cleveland Indians are five games back. In the National League, the Atlanta Braves are tops in the NL East by 2.5 games over the NY Mets, while the Washington Nationals, Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins are next in line.

The NL Central has the Milwaukee Brewers with the best record in baseball they are 20-8 and five games up on the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs are next in the standings and they have a hill to climb as well. The NL West has the San Francisco Giants up .5 games on the Colorado Rockies, while the LA Dodgers are 1.5 games back ahead of the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks.
