The Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens were the first teams in the east to advance to the second round of the NHL playoffs and now the schedule for their series picks up on Thursday and they will be the first game of the round starting at 7:30 pm ET and the TV coverage comes from NBC Sports Network and the live stream will be online from the NBCSN Live Extra website.
The Original Six matchup of the teams is the 34th meeting of the two in the playoffs and that is a ton for two franchises and both are coming in hot after winning four straight games in the first round. The Montreal Canadiens were the first team through to the second round and that came after the team swept out the Tampa Bay Lightning in four games. Montreal had the advantage of facing the TB backup goalie with Ben Bishop injured and Carey Price played very well and that gave the only team from Canada a boost and they now are matching up with the top team in the NHL in the Boston Bruins.
The Bruins were the top seed in the east and they now have the Canadiens in the second round, while the Penguins will face off against the Rangers and that leaves four teams left in the eastern conference. The Canadiens have not played in 10 days and that could have an effect on the team when they start Game 1 in Boston at TD Garden. The Bruins dominated the Red Wings after losing the first game and now both teams are playing well coming into the playoffs series and on the other side the Penguins and the Rangers will play.
