The Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies are playing Game 6 of their NBA playoffs series on Thursday and the matchup comes live from the FedEx Forum and starts up at 8 pm ET at TNT and is streaming online from the main channel website and has Kevin Durant and company looking to survive down 3-2 in the series after falling in the last game in OKC.
Durant and the Thunder now are in danger of losing to the Grizzlies for the second straight season and the Grizzlies have been playing very well and they can easily end things in Game 6 on Thursday night. Durant and Russell Westbrook have been the best players for the Thunder, but the Grizzlies have shown that they can shut them down when the team needs them the most and if Serge Ibaka and Reggie Jackson can't step up, it could be another early exit for the Thunder.
Last season the team won without Westbrook in the lineup and now they have him back and healthy, but without some strong play on Thursday and on Saturday, Durant and the point guard will have to wonder what might have been had the franchise kept James Harden. The Rockets may lose the series, yes, but the Thunder have lacked a legitimate third scoring option over the past two years and that has coincided with the loss of Harden, who the team traded to the Rockets when he wanted a max contract. The Thunder and Scott Brooks are preparing for a tough battle in Memphis and while the Grizzlies play very well at home, OKC has experience and they can force a Game 7 with a win on Thursday.
Game 7 would be on Saturday and that comes if the Thunder win over the Grizzlies and that night would see three games if the series play out that far, as the Hawks and Pacers along with the Warriors and Clippers would also have their final games that night. The schedule on Thursday starts with the Indiana Pacers and the Atlanta Hawks and Indy is now against the ropes and they are down 3-2 and can get upset by the number eight seed in the playoffs and that would be a historic loss.
The Thunder and Grizzlies play the middle game with tip off at 8 pm and then the LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors will have the late game at 10:30 pm ET. The Clippers are obviously playing with a ton of distractions right now with the Donald Sterling situation and that will take time to resolve itself, but luckily the focus for the team can be on the court and they are now up 3-2 after beating the Warriors in Game 5 and winner of those games has the advantage, as the Game 5 victor takes the series over 80 percent of the time.
The Friday schedule has the Toronto Raptors and the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center and that could end things for BK, as they are down 3-2 in the series, while the same goes for the Mavericks when they host the San Antonio Spurs. The Houston Rockets won game 5 to put the series at 3-2 and now the Blazers can close things out in that series.
