Newcastle United face a fight to keep Demba Ba at St James' Park after the striker reportedly held talks with two Turkish clubs.
Ba had a fantastic first season for the Magpies, scoring 16 goals, after signing from West Ham United as a free agent. The Senegalese international, however, has a bargain £7 million ($11 million) release clause, which has prompted the likes of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce to show serious interest to take the forward to Turkey.
Worried about the proposed move, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is ready to hold talks with the 27-year-old to convince him that his future lies at St James' Park.
"Ever since he signed with us we've had the speculation," Pardew told the BBC. "I don't think it's going to go away. We want him to stay, the fans do too, and we hope that will be the case.
Newcastle have already lined up Luuk De Jong, if Ba leaves. The Magpies reportedly bid £8 million ($12.5 million) for the Dutch striker. It is understood FC Twente will sell the 21-year-old if Newcastle up their bid to £9.5 million ($15 million).
Newcastle are also in the hunt for young Manchester City striker John Guidetti, but face competition from Sunderland. Guidetti impressed last season, scoring 20 goals for Feyenoord while on loan.
West Ham United have completed the signing of highly-rated free agent Mohammed Diame. The Senegalese midfielder, who saw his contract with Wigan come to an end after last season, was a reported target of Liverpool and Arsenal, but will now move to the Hammers after agreeing on a three-year contract.
"I'm very happy and very excited to have joined the club and I'm looking forward to the start of the season," the 25-year-old told the club's official website.
"I know the fans here get behind the team all the time and I'm looking forward to showing everybody what I can do on the pitch."
Manager Sam Allardyce said: "His potential is really good and he's ready to go and compete in the first team straight away, as he's had three years in the Premier League already.
"He's 25 and can only get better and I hope he can go on to prove that to me and all of the West Ham United fans. He will be a very exciting addition to the squad."
West Ham have increased their bid to £5.5 million ($8.6 million) to secure the services of wantaway striker Grant Holt from Norwich City, according to the Daily Mail. Norwich have repeatedly said the striker is not for sale, despite Holt handing in a transfer request.
Robert Green agreed a two-year deal with Queens Park Rangers after leaving West Ham. "I'm delighted to be here. I'm excited about the challenge ahead and hugely encouraged by the direction in which the owners and Mark Hughes are looking to take the club," Green said.
"It's an exciting period for everybody connected to QPR and I can't wait to get started."
Fulham have lost out to Reading for the services of striker Pavel Pogrebnyak. The Russian, who spent last season on loan at Fulham from Stuttgart, is a free agent and has reportedly agreed a four-year deal worth £30,000 a week with the newly-promoted side, according The Sun.
Meanwhile, Swansea City have targeted PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ottman Bakkal if they fail to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson, while Fulham have offered nearly 2 million pounds for Vitesse Arnhem left-back Alexander Buttner.
