Yuvraj Could Return As Soon As World T20 in September

India's Yuvraj Singh is targeting a return to international cricket later this year, hinting he could be available for the World T20 in September.

Yuvraj has not appeared in any international match since being diagnosed with lung cancer in November last year.

The 30-year-old underwent extensive chemotherapy in the US and said he is recovering well from the illness.

Yuvraj, who has played 37 Tests, 274 ODIs and 23 T20s for India since making his debut for his country in 2000, was the man of the tournament when India won the World Cup in March, 2011.

Speaking to the International Cricket Council's magazine show, ICC Cricket 360, Yuvraj said he has begun light training and is slowly picking up his fitness. "I'm feeling good. It's been two months since I finished my chemotherapy. Initially my energy levels were low but now I am following my diet and eating loads of food and it's getting better in recovery.

"I've done six or seven sessions of very light training and light yoga. I'm just getting back into the groove of being a normal person, breathing normally, which is a lot of excitement and fun for me at the moment.

"So it's going to be a big challenge for me to come back and play for India again, because the body has been under a lot of shock which nobody can understand except me," he said.

"Only a cancer patient can understand what he is going through."

Yuvraj said he was not sure about the timeframe for his return. "I can't really give a timeframe but I have to see how my body is recovering and how fast I can come on the field.

"I don't want to rush and I don't want to come back at 75% fitness. I might take six months, I might take two months. But the day I feel 100% I will surely be back."
