May 02, 2014 02:09 PM EDT

The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs are matching up on the MLB schedule on Friday and the game at 2:20 pm ET comes from Wrigley Field and has a stream on MLB.com and comes with Adam Wainwright on the mound against Travis Wood and both NL Central teams will be looking to get their series started off with a win.

Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright has been dominant against the Cubs in his career and he comes in before Michael Wacha pitched on Saturday and that game will be in the afternoon as well. The team beat the Brewers on Thursday and that saw Shelby Miller win over Matt Garza and that was a big win, as the Brewers are the best in baseball and are in first place in the central division.

The Brewers have played very well to start the season and now the central could be very tough, as the Cards, Pirates and Reds all made the playoffs last season and now the Brew crew are in first place. The Cardinals are in second place and they come in at 23rd in the league in runs and 19th in batting average, while they are also 18th in on base and 22nd in slugging percentage. The team is in the top five in WHIP, BAA and ERA and are seventh in quality starts and their pitching has once again been a strength this season.

The Cubs come into the game after losing to the Reds and now they start the series and they will have Wood on Friday and Jake Arrieta on the mound against Wacha. The team is fourth in the NL Central and they tied with the Pirates right now and they are 27th in runs, 24th in batting average and 26th in slugging. The pitching has been up and down and the team is 16th in ERA, 13th in quality starts and 19th in WHIP.
