Kevin Durant faces a lawsuit for using the "Durantula" nickname. This comes a day before he gets ready to play in elimination Game 5 in Miami.
Mark Durante is suing the baller. Durante is a guitarist that played for the popular 80's group, Public Enemy.
He said he has sent many letters to Durant representative telling them to stop using the moniker, Durante says he has been ignored on multiple occasions.
Durante is claiming that he gave birth to the nickname and is seeking repair in damages caused by Durant's use of name.
He also claims that Kevin Durant has signed the name on basketballs that he sells on his website. The guitarist has also accused Nike for using the name in shoe campaigns.
Durante is seeking a court order that will put an end to all of this.
As bad as this may seem for Durant, this might be bad news for the Miami Heat.
Remember when Kobe Bryan was facing court trials and went absolutely nuts on the NBA?
Dave Chappelle joked around in one of his stand up shows saying Kobe was playing for his freedom. Had he been guilty, America would have been able to tell by the way he performed on the court.
If Durant decides to let his frustration out on the court, the Heat might end up paying the price.
As the Thunder face elimination, you better believe Durant is going to play his heart out in Game 5.
It could also go the other way around.
Durant is already in a pressure situation on the court, having outside dilemmas might work his nerves too much and cause him to play poorly.
Whatever the case is, Durant will play Game 5 tonight and worry about the court issues later.
By the way, very fishy that Durante waited this long to come out with the lawsuit. It seems like he might be a Heat fan trying to fill the young baller's head with more issues. As if playing an elimination game was not hard enough.
