MLB Standings 2014: AL and NL Division Leaders and Baseball Records Into May

May 09, 2014 02:16 PM EDT

The MLB Standings for 2014 in the AL and NL have the Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies tied for the most wins and the division leaders are varied as the baseball season heads into May and the leaders include the Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics and Miami Marlins heading into the back stretch of the May schedule.

The Yankees were leading the AL East last week, but after a couple losses the Baltimore Orioles were able to pull ahead in the division and now they are ahead by a half game. The East is very close and all the top four teams are within two games, with the Red Sox and Blues Jays in the standings ahead of the Rays, who are 4.5 games back for the time being.

The AL Central has not been as competitive as many thought, with the Detroit Tigers taking a nice five game lead over the White Sox, but Chicago has been playing better than expected. The teams in the bottom will duke it out for position in the wild card and Chicago is up above the Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins in the division standings.

The AL West has seen the Mariners start moving up in the division standings and now they are just 1.5 games back of the Oakland A's and this comes as the team has gone 8-2 over the past 10 games and that included a 1-0 win against the Royals. The team is starting to play much better and they come in ahead of the Rangers, Angels and Astros in the division standings.

The Marlins have been the best home team in baseball and they have been surprisingly good and they have 20 wins and they are 17-5 in Miami and are leading the AL East by .5 games over the Nationals. The Braves are next and they are two up over the Mets and the Phillies are last in the division. The Central has the Brewers leading with the best record in baseball, while the Giants and Rockies each have 22 wins and SF is in first by a half game.
