Donald Sterling CNN Interview: Clippers Owner Says To Anderson Cooper He's Not Racist, Magic Johnson Bad Role Model, Trying To Sleep With Stiviano

May 12, 2014 09:54 AM EDT

Donald Sterling sat down in an interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN that will air on video and TV Monday and in that interview the disgraced LA Clippers owner takes the usual playbook of blaming everyone and everything else but himself for his problems, saying that h is not a racist, was set up on the recording that was released of him and that he was only trying to sleep with V. Stiviano when he made the racist comments and spoke about Magic Johnson.

Over a week after the recording was made public Sterling finally responded and now he wants forgiveness and a chance to stay owner of his team now that he realizes he likely will lose it. Sterling's estranged wife Rochelle also said that she wants to retain her ownership of the team and she's not racist, but anyone who looks into the past can easily see in this video that she is no prize either. His wife also made racist comments about tenants in buildings the Sterling's owned and age also was caught in video lying to get access to people's apartments as a health inspector and made "disparaging comments about Hispanic and black people". So yeah, she deserves to stay in power.

Sterling seemingly dug a bigger hole for himself, as he continued trying to say he is not a racist and that he was only trying to sleep with Stiviano when he was goaded into saying what he said. Sterling said he doesn't know how to fix things yet and that he is entitled to a "mistake" and now he wants forgiveness and may have to beg for it. The players will not play for him and his wife and that puts the NBA in a very tough situation.

Sterling also said that he doesn't think Magic Johnson is a good role model for children and that he will fight to keep his team. The Clippers are playing an amazing series and they made a comeback on Sunday to tie the western conference semifinals at 2-2 with the Thunder.

"If I said anything wrong, I'm sorry," Sterling said. "He's a good person. I mean, what am I going to say? Has he done everything he can do to help minorities? I don't think so. But I'll say it, he's great. But I don't think he's a good example for the children of Los Angeles."
