NY Mets vs. New York Yankees Live Stream: Watch Online Streaming Baseball Game

May 12, 2014 06:57 PM EDT

The NY Mets and New York Yankees are playing their first Subway Series of the season on Monday and the interleague baseball game comes from Yankee Stadium at starts up at 7:05 pm ET and is streaming from MLB.com as the NYC rivalry starts up for 2014 and it comes as both teams are playing solid ball and could use a win and after last year's results, the Yanks are looking to bounce back.

The series will mark the first time that Curtis Granderson returns to the stadium against his old team in a Mets uniform, while the Yankees will debut all their new players as well to their interleague rivals. The Mets signed Granderson and Bartolo Colon this offseason and both players will be in focus on Monday with Colon on the mound and they will be facing off against the new Yankees in Brian McCann, Jacoby Ellsbury and former Met Carlos Beltran. The team also may have to deal with Masahiro Tanaka at some point and he has been very important to the team and even more so now with CC Sabathia being placed on the DL with Michael Pineda.

The Mets are not usually thrilled to play their crosstown rivals, but for once the team has the upper hand in the recent games, as they won all four last year and bring that streak into the series now. The Yankees had won 11 of the previous 14 games before last year and now they are looking to bounce back after losing two in a row against the Brewers over the weekend. The team had to deal with losing Sabathia and then they also came close to making a comeback win with a home run from Mark Teixeira in the top of the ninth inning, but the team allowed the Brewers to win it in the bottom to end the series.

Granderson has not played up to expectations and with Mets fans that means not hitting .350 with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs in your first month of the season and if you don't do that you're a bust that the team never should have signed and it can be often impossible to get back on their good sides. The team has been burned in the past, but they really have no patience when it comes to big name players and they wonder why those players end up getting frustrated. The Yankees had never lost four straight to the Mets before in the series and now they are hoping the steady Hiroki Kuroda can be solid against the Mets on Monday night. Kuroda has gone winless in his past four starts and he is looking to change that against the NL East NY team.

The Yankees come into the game at 19-17 and they are in second place in the AL East after leading for most of the season and the next game will be Zack Wheeler against Vidal Nuno, who is another sub for Sabathia and Pineda in the rotation. The team is ranked 13th in the league in runs and fifth in batting average and they are looking to get things right for this series against the Mets. The Mets are fourth in the NL East and they have started to flounder a bit after a nice start and that is usually what happens to the Mets as it gets to this time of year.
