The Dallas Cowboys need a more consistent rushing game with DeMarco Murray this season and a trade for Mark Ingram could be an option if they want to make a deal, while names like Daryl Richardson Michael Bush, Ronnie Brown and Brian Leonard could be free agent targets for Jerry Jones, as Tony Romo could also benefit from some added depth at RB behind Philip Tanner and Joseph Randle.
The Cowboys ranked near the bottom of the league in rushing yards per game last season and while the team likes what they have seen from Randle, he is still young and a veteran presence with Murray could be very beneficial to the offense. According to ESPN.com, the Saints did not pick up the fifth year option on Ingram and while that doesn't mean the team will trade him, they like Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson enough that they could consider it.
The Saints already traded Darren Sproles and with the team still needing to sign Jimmy Graham and also having such a focus on the passing game, trading Ingram likely would not hurt much. The Cowboys saw last season what Ingram could do after he had a career high amount of yards against them and he has 1,462 yards with 11 touchdowns in 37 games with the Saints. Ingram has dealt with some injuries in the past and based on RB value, they probably would not have to give up much to get him if they felt he could be a good fit. Murray has dealt with injury issues as well and while he led the team with a career high 1121 yards last season, the Cowboys always seem to be frustrated with his injuries or progress.
There isn't much on the free agent market, but names like Bush or Brown could be options, while the Rams just released Daryl Richardson. Last season he only had 215 yards after putting up 475 yards and averaged 4.8 yards per carry in 2012 and that could be another option for the team.
Bush did not get many touches last season with the Chicago Bears despite playing in 15 games and part of that was the extremely productive season of Matt Forte. Last season he had 197 yards on 63 carries and that was nearly half of what he did the previous season in 13 games and now he has gone down in carries, games, yards, yards per carry and touchdowns in each of the last three seasons. Bush's production has gone down, but he is still a solid veteran option for teams and anyone still in need before the draft or after could look to sign him.
Brown has been in a similar position, but he is a solid receiver out of the backfield and he could add that element to a number of teams, including the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys. Brown was with the San Diego Chargers over the past two seasons and he has scored just one touchdown on the ground in that time. Last season he had 157 yards on 45 carries and he played in all 16 games and only had eight receptions, but in the previous season he had a career high 49 catches and he could be looking to repeat that performance for whatever team he signs with, if he gets signed.
