Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Toni Kroos and Mats Hummels Targets As Louis van Gaal Next Manager at Old Trafford

Manchester United had a very tough 2013-14 season in the Premier League and now this summer they are expected to make some big changes at old Trafford and names like Toni Kroos and Mats Hummels are transfer targets and the club is also expected to name Louis van Gaal as the next manager and that comes after Man U sacked David Moyes this year.

According to ESPNFC.com, the team is going after both Kroos and Hummels this summer and they also are looking to add van Gaal to replace Moyes as manager heading into next season. The club is down two center backs with Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic and that leaves a void and they have already gotten some approval from former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, who said that the Bayern and Borussia players are both very good and could do well at Old Trafford.

The entire season was up and down for Manchester United and now they are out of the Champions League and the top part of the EPL after finishing in seventh place. Moyes came in to replace Sir Alex Ferguson after an amazing run and while he struggled at the beginning, it looked like things were turning around, but that never came to pass. The team gave up records at Old Trafford that stood for many years, including a first home loss to Sunderland since the 1960s and that led to major changes.

Kroos has long been a target for Man U and that would be a big move if they were able to get him. Louis van Gaal has been mum on the rumors heading into the World Cup, but there is a good chance he will take over after the tournament and interim manager Ryan Giggs is expected to stay on in another role after he took over for Moyes during the season. Van Gaal has pre World Cup issues to deal with, but Manchester United is looking to get things going this summer and he could be the one to take over, while Giggs is also a candidate.

Moyes was dismissed after a loss away to Everton and that brought Ryan Giggs in as manager for the rest of the season. Wayne Rooney played well, but even the transfer of Juan Mata was not enough and the team also had to deal with losing Robin Van Persie for a month with an injury. The summer is expected to be a big one for Manchester United and they could have an exciting amount of moves heading into next season.
