NY Knicks Rumors: Raymond Felton Trade With Tyson Chandler Option As Mike Dunleavy or Mark Jackson Hired At Head Coach?

May 19, 2014 09:16 AM EDT

The NY Knicks are looking for a new head coach and names like Mike Dunleavy, Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson have come up in connection to the job and as that search goes on, Phil Jackson is eyeing moves for the summer and players like Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton and Amar'e Stoudemire could be on the move in potential trades as the Knicks try to sign Carmelo Anthony.

The Knicks are coming into the offseason after a major disappointment in 2013-2014, as they won over 50 games last season and missed the playoffs this year and that is what led to the franchise bringing in Phil Jackson to run things. Carmelo Anthony is a primary focus for the franchise this offseason and while he may decide to stay in New York, there is a good chance that teams like the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets will try to sway him once he opts out of his deal.

Anthony is coming into the offseason after missing the playoffs for the first time in his career and with Jackson saying that he may have to take a pay cut to stay with the Knicks, it is very likely that Melo will at least listen to offers from other teams. The Knicks have the advantage of giving the most years and the highest amount of money to Anthony in a contract offer, but as he gets to his 30th birthday, winning could be more important than getting the most money and teams like the Bulls and Rockets could be very enticing.

Phil Jackson is looking to find a head coach after Steve Kerr opted to sign with the Warriors and names like Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy and Mike Dunleavy have come up in connection to the job. According to ESPN.com, Dunleavy has become a candidate for the job and it comes after he previously was the head coach for the Clippers and he has previous experience over two decades in the NBA and the report says that he is a candidate for the Lakers opening as well.

The Knicks have a number of decisions to make this offseason and trades could be in the cards, as ESPN.com has reported that Jackson has informed Raymond Felton that he will look at trading the point guard. Last season Felton dealt with issues off the court with guns and the police and he had the worst season of his career on it, averaging a low of 9.7 points and he was mostly terrible for the Knicks, who won just 37 games after winning 54 last season. The Knicks took a major step back and Felton was part of it and he missed 17 games to injury on top of that and now

Jackson has to find a way to turn the point guard into something positive, as he has two years left on his deal after signing for four years and $15 million. Last season Anthony averaged 27 points to lead the team, while Chandler had nine rebounds and Felton averaged five assists and the team missed the playoffs for the first time in four years and that is one of the reasons why Mike Woodson was axed after the season ended. Jackson has some major work to do.
