Chicago Bears Rumors: Jermichael Finley, Santonio Holmes, Felix Jones Free Agent Options As Kyle Fuller, Jared Allen, Jordan Lynch Means Most Improved 2014?

May 20, 2014 04:42 PM EDT

The Chicago Bears made some major moves this offseason and with names like Jermichael Finley, Santonio Holmes, Felix Jones, Kevin William and Drayton Florence on the free agent market, they could look to add more players, which comes after a busy free agency and draft that saw the team add Kyle Fuller, Lamarr Houston, Jared Allen and Ka'Deem Carey and they could be the most improved in 2014.

The Bears have had a very busy offseason and after the draft the team now has Kyle Fuller, Ka'Deem Carey, David Fales and Ego Ferguson in the mix along with free agent signings like Jared Allen, Lamarr Houston and Willie Young to join Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, Jay Cutler and Matt Forte and those moves could make Da Bears the most improved team in the NFL in 2014.

The Bears defense last season was terrible and after giving up a record amount of yards overall and through the air, the team went after Kyle Fuller at cornerback in the first round. The team picked Ferguson in the second round to help solidify the rushing game with defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff and they also took care of some backups on offense, snagging Fales and Carey to be the support for Cutler and Forte. Marc Trestman had a fine season in Chicago for his first run as head coach and now he has year 2 and things are looking very bright.

Brandon Marshall signed an extension to remain in Chicago and he has been huge for the tem, while Jeffery has established himself as one of the best young receivers in football. Marshall signed a $30 million extension over three years and that comes after Cutler was locked up and now the trust of the offense is in for a while, as Forte is the next man of that group and all those players have shown they can elite for Trestman. The Bears offense can be very productive next season once again and Carey comes in after being one of the best backs in college football over the past couple years.

Forte needed a backup badly and now he has one and so does Cutler in Fales, who was one of the most accurate passers in college last season. Fuller is a consistent player who started all but eight of 50 games in his college career and he also is a playmaker, making 173 tackles, six interceptions, 21 pass breakups, four forced fumbles and one recovery at Virginia Tech. Jordan Lynch could become an interesting weapon for the Bears after coming in as an undrafted rookie and while he was known for his passing, he was also known for his rushing in college and he comes in after going for 4,343 yards and 48 touchdowns at NIU and being a Heisman finalist.

The Bears ranked last in the league in rushing yards allowed per game last season and they feel their moves will address that, while they were also 15th in passing yards allowed per game. Fuller will help with that and adding Carey and Lynch to an offense that was one of the best last season should only make it better. The team ranked fifth in the league in passing yards per game and Forte had the best season of his career in year one under Trestman.
