The Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers are playing on the MLB schedule on Tuesday as they finish their series and the game from Globe Life Park in Arlington starts up at 2:05 pm ET and comes as Chris Young takes the mound in the AL West matchup and the game is streaming online from the MLB.com website as the M's try to stay in second place in the division.
The Mariners have not been amazing this year, but they are 22-22 and that is a huge improvement from a team that has not made the playoffs in a decade. Kyle Seager has been killing the ball in Texas this year and nowhere else, while Hisashi Iwakuma pitched another brilliant game to get the win for the M's on Tuesday, putting him at 3-0 on the season and he now has gone eight innings in three starts, something he had never done in the majors yet. Dustin Ackley continues to hit and while Robinson Cano has one home run, he has been hitting like crazy and has reached base in 27 straight games.
The Mariners have some potential if they can get their offense going and right now they are 13th in the league in runs and 27th in batting average. The team is 28th in on base percentage and while players like Justin Smoak and Brad Miller are coming along, they need much more on offense. The team just lost Corey Hart for up to six weeks and while they brought up Nick Franklin that is not enough to get the offense back on track and they are hoping he can add some pop after being dynamic in triple A. The team is still waiting on Logan Morrison to come back and it could be some rough days at DH with Seattle heading home after this series.
The team has their longest home stand of the season with 11 games and they start with a four game series against the Houston Astros. Felix Hernandez will get back on the mound in a few days after helping the team snap a losing streak and now they are hoping to stay on the winning side of things against the Rangers.
Texas comes into the game at three games under .500 and they are in fourth place in the AL West and they are looking to take down the Mariners before starting a series with the Tigers. The team has Yu Darvish on the mound next and they have been playing very well behind him and the team ranks 11th in the league in on base percentage and ninth in batting average. The Rangers have been a powerhouse and now for the time being the Mariners are ahead in the standings.
