NBA Playoff Standings 2014: San Antonio Spurs Win Over Oklahoma City Thunder For 2-0 Series Lead After Dominating 112-77 Final Score

May 21, 2014 11:45 PM EDT

The San Antonio Spurs have a 2-0 series lead in the western conference finals after winning against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the team won by the final score of 112-77 and were dominant for the whole second half of the game, playing suffocating defense and now Kevin Durant and OKC head home down two games in the series.

The Spurs were dominant for the entire game apart from the first quarter and now it looks like the Thunder are done. The Miami Heat and Pacers are 1-1 in their series and the Spurs are looking for that Miami rematch and the Spurs were killer in the third quarter once again, outscoring the Thunder 33-18 and that put the game just too far out of reach for Oklahoma City. Serge Ibaka being out was a massive change to the series and that was one of the biggest differences in the matchup.

The game was tight after the first quarter with the Thunder taking a two point lead, but that was short lived, as the Spurs came back in the second and outscored the team 34-18. San Antonio dominated in the paint in the first game and they did so early in the second and they came in with a 1-0 lead in the series after winning Game 1. Durant had 15 points in the game midway through the third quarter, while Russell Westbrook was tops with four assists at that time. Tony Parker was once again dominant, scoring 18 points through four minutes in the third, while Tim Duncan had 11 rebounds.

The absence of Serge Ibaka was evident in game 1 and it was the same in Game 2 and the Spurs were dominant in that first matchup, winning 122-105 even with Durant scoring 28 points. Westbrook had seven assists in that game, while Parker led the way with 12 assists and Duncan had 27 points. The bench play has been great from the Spurs and they have been using everyone to great effect, including Kawhi Leonard and Tiago Splitter. The Spurs and Miami Heat faced off in the finals last season, while the Thunder played against LeBron James two years ago.
