MLB Standings 2014: AL and NL Division Records Into June Schedule After Memorial Day

May 27, 2014 02:29 PM EDT

The MLB standings are starting to take shape in 2014 after Memorial Day and heading into the June schedule the AL and NL division leaders are the Detroit Tigers, Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants, Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics, while teams like the New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, LA Angels, Baltimore Orioles and St. Louis Cardinals are all in the mix in the wild card standings.

The Toronto Blue Jays are in first place in the AL East for the time being and the team has a small lead over the NY Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles. The Yanks won over the St. Louis Cardinals in extra innings on Monday, while the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox are both struggling to start the season. The Red Sox just snapped their 10 game losing streak against the Atlanta Braves, but they have a big gap to makeup and their only hope is the fact that no one has run away with the AL East yet.

The AL Central has the Detroit Tigers in first place once again and they have continued to dominate that division and they are the only team in the Central with a positive run differential. The same goes for the Blue Jays in the AL East and the Tigers have been one of the best offensive teams in the league and they have a five game lead over the Chicago White Sox, while the Royals, Twins and Indians are trying to stay in the mix.

The AL West has the Oakland A's in first place over the AL Angels and Texas Rangers, while the Seattle Mariners are hanging around at 25-25. The Astros are way down in the west and they are there with the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central as the worst teams in the league. Atlanta has a two game lead over the Marlins and Nationals in the AL East, while the Phillies and Mets are the bottom two teams.

The central division has the Milwaukee Brewers as the leaders after their surprising start and they look like they are going to be for real this year and they have a small lead over the Cardinals. The Pirates, Reds and Cubs are six, 6.5 and 9.5 games back in the division and it looks like a two headed race between the Brewers and the Cards. The NL West has the Giants bouncing back after a terrible 2013 and San Francisco has a 4.5 lead over the LA Dodgers, while the Colorado Rockies, San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks are next in the standings.
