Miguel Cotto and Sergio Martinez are boxing live on Saturday night and the match is streaming online from HBO PPV for the matchup of the boxers and the pay per view main event fight comes after 11 pm ET and the undercard bouts at Madison Square Garden in New York City to see who will be the WBC middleweight champion and a belt will be won at MSG on Saturday.
The fight card has a number of good battles along with Sergio Martinez taking on Miguel Cotto, as John Jackson and Andy Lee are matching up in a welterweight battle, while Javier Maciel and Jorge Melendez are also welterweights. The co-main event along with Cotto and Martinez is a featherweight matchup with Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. and Marvin Sonsona and that will be before the championship bout. The two have been going back and forth at each other in the lead up to the fight and now they will matchup with each other at MSG on Saturday night for the belt.
Martinez comes into the match as the favorite and Cotta has previous won a number of matches at the Garden, winning seven times at MSG and while he lost his most recent fight there, he has performed well at the venue. Martinez comes in with a world title and he is looking to keep things going against Cotto and both fighters have to deal with strong fronts and the opening rounds could be the biggest of the fight. Cotto comes in as the younger fighter at 33 compared to the age of 39 for Martinez and he also has a higher amount of knockouts with 31, while Martinez has 28 knockouts.
Cotto and Martinez come in at 160 pounds each and Cotto is three inches shorter than Martinez, while the latter boxer has a longer reach. Cotto comes in at 38-4 with his record, while Martinez is 51-2-2 in his career and now the two boxers battle at MSG. Martinez is making his seventh defense of the title and he is coming into the ring for the first time in over a year and this match could be the best one of the night.
