The NBA Draft Order for 2014 after the lottery has the Cleveland Cavaliers picking number 1 overall in the first round and the event is on schedule for June 26 and will be live from the Barclays Center and here is a look at the full draft order for the first and second rounds and players like Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, Joel Embiid, Julius Randle and Aaron Gordon could be taken in the top 10.
The Cavaliers defied the odds once again and they got the first overall pick in the draft for the second straight year and they got it despite a 1.7 percent chance of winning, beating out the Bucks, who had a 25 percent chance with the worst record in the league. The Cavaliers took Anthony Bennett last year and while it is too soon to say he is a bust overall, he sure was last season and now the team has pressure to make the right pick or at least trade it for something valuable.
The Cavaliers come in with the number one pick in the draft and that came from the lottery ahead of the Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers in the top 3. The Orlando Magic and Utah Jazz round out the top five, while the Boston Celtics, LA Lakers, Sacramento Kings, Charlotte Hornets and then the Sixers again. The Hornets pick is from a trade with the Pistons, while the Sixers second top 10 pick is from the trade last year with the Pelicans. The Sixers are a team that could trade since they have two top 10 picks and this comes after they acquired Nerlens Noel and the pick last year from the Pelicans.
The Denver Nuggets pick ahead of the Magic at 10 and 11 and that pick came from the NY Knicks, who do not have a first round pick, while the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns were the next teams from the lottery. The rest of the first round has the Hawks, Bulls, Celtics, Suns, Bulls and Raptors in the top 20 before the Oklahoma City Thunder pick at 21. That pick came from the Houston Rockets...which previously came from the Lakers and the Mavericks. The Memphis Grizzlies pick at 22 before the Jazz, while the Hornets, Rockets, Miami Heat, Suns, Clippers, Thunder and Spurs finish the first round.
The top picks of the second round include the Bucks picking first before the Sixers, Cavaliers, Mavericks and Utah Jazz. The Bucks also have another second round pick at number 36 and they could also be looking at trades this year.
