Ghana and South Korea are playing one of the last live World Cup international friendly matches on Monday and the soccer game is live online from ESPN, WatchESPN and ESPN3.com at 7 pm ET from Sun Life Stadium in Miami and this is a very big match for both sides as they get fit and prepared ahead of Brazil 2014 and things start off in the tournament on Thursday.
The Black Stars are one of the best teams from Africa and they are not an easy team to get past and Korea will be looking to play well ahead of the World Cup opening. Ghana will be playing very close to the World Cup and that gives a team like the US the advantage, as they can scout the team in this game and that will be very important heading into the World Cup in Brazil. Ghana has had the number for team USA for some time and they are one team that the US needs to beat, as Portugal and Germany are even better and that makes this the toughest group in the entire tournament.
Ghana is in a group with the United States and that Group G set is considered to be the group of death by many in the tournament and it will be very hard for any of the four teams to make it out. Germany is likely to make it since they are a favorite in the overall tournament with Argentina, Brazil and Spain, while Portugal has Cristiano Ronaldo and he is expected to play for the team after being injured. Ghana and the US are two skilled teams and are the ones being looked down on in the group and while USA has long odds, they are a tough team that no one is looking forward to playing, not even Germany.
The schedule for Group G begins on June 16 on the Monday after the tournament starts and that has Germany taking on Portugal and the US playing against Ghana, which is one reason why they want to see this friendly matchup. The game for the USA is in Natal and the next matchup is Germany and Ghana on June 21, while the US and Portugal play the next day in Manaus at Arena Amazonia, you know, the brilliantly built stadium that will host only four games and is barely manageable by roads and has no team that will play there after the World Cup, is of course, money well spent. The rest of the games include Germany and the US on June 26, while Portugal and Ghana finish the group stage that day as well.
South Korea also has a tough draw coming up and they play with Belgium, Algeria and Russia in Group H. That is no Group G, but that won't be easy and things start off against Russia for the Korean side and that will be on June 17. The team continues with Algeria and then against Belgium and that will complete the group stages for the team on June 26. The knockout stages come after that for the teams and the US hopes it's a part of it.
