The Houston Texans are dealing with Andre Johnson trade rumors this offseason and teams like the Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns all could be in the mix for him if the Texans want to deal and a team like the Browns could be motivated if Johnny Manziel starts over Brian Hoyer, as the team may still have to replace Josh Gordon if he is suspended for the 2014 NFL season.
The Texans have a big decision to make, as they have to decide whether to trade Johnson or not and that will come soon, as he has stayed away from team activities this offseason and has made it clear that he is not planning on participating. According to ESPN.com, Johnson has not demanded a trade, but he has expressed his frustration coming off of a 2-14 season and playing for a new head coach in Bill O'Brien. Johnson had an amazing year last season despite playing with a subpar Matt Schaub and an undrafted rookie in Case Keenum and now the team has to see how this plays out.
Johnson has not demanded a trade, but he said that he is not sure Houston is the place for him in the future and now that he is 32 years old, he may be thinking about championships. The Texans can turn things around, but they took a major step back after going 2-14 and that came after they were considered Super Bowl contenders coming into the season. The team ended up with the first overall pick and took Jadeveon Clowney and now they also have rookie Tom Savage coming in. The Texans have a big decision to make at QB as well and with Savage, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Keenum as the main QBs, Johnson has to see whether that's something he wants to take part in again.
Last year Johnson had 109 catches for 1,407 yards and five touchdowns and now he could be on his way out. The Raiders have some depth issues at wide receiver and they could be a fit, while some have written that the Patriots should take a chance. The Browns arte another team that makes sense, as they have the money to do it and also could use a wideout if Josh Gordon is suspended. Johnny Manziel is going to challenge Brian Hoyer for the starting job and if he gets it, adding someone like Johnson would be huge for the team if they lose Gordon.
The Browns went 4-12 last season and they are looking to bounce back and having Manziel has added tons of attention to the team. The Texans started the season with two wins and then lost 14 straight games and now they have to find a way back. Johnson is the all-time leader in all categories for WRs for the team and he has a choice to make as well. Johnson may return for team activities, but damage has been done and now O'Brien has to try and get things back on track with the WR.
