England and Uruguay are playing on the World Cup 2014 schedule on Thursday and the Group D match is live from ESPN on TV and has a live stream from the WatchESPN website online as the English try and bounce back from their opening loss to Italy and the game will be live from the main Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo and starts up at 3 pm ET for the soccer matchup.
England comes into the game in a just win situation after falling to Italy and their hopes of even getting into the knockout stages could be over with a loss here. Wayne Rooney will be asked to step up and this match could save the World Cup for the English as they try and make a run to the finals for the first time since 1966, which was also the last time they won the tournament. No European team has won the tournament when it's held in South America and that makes it even tougher for the team to bounce back and they are hoping to avoid the same fate as Spain, who lost and is now eliminated from the knockout stage.
England and Uruguay basically have an elimination game here, as the loser will not be able to get to the next stage and both Rooney and Steven Gerrard said to the media that they understand the pressure. The two sides have faced off 11 times and England comes in with nearly everyone on their roster as players from the Premier League, so they will be ready for Luis Suarez when he returns. Maxi Pereira and Diego Lugano along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are the players missing from the two sides, but Suarez coming back is as much as the Uruguayan team can ask for at this point.
The English side knows what's at stake and the team gave itself a player's pep talk heading into the match, with Steven Gerrard making sure everyone was on the same page. The United States had a great game against Ghana and that was one of the most exciting of the tournament so far. The US team scored in the opening minute after a great play from Clint Dempsey and now they are in position to get to the next stage with a win against Portugal in their matchup this weekend. The Portugal side is coming in with a chip on their shoulder and motivation after being slapped by Germany 4-0 and Cristiano Ronaldo will be playing with a purpose.
The US team has some luck though, as Pepe will be out with a red card and England is not so lucky in their game, as Suarez is expected to be back and he says that he is full healthy now. Suarez won numerous awards this year in England for his play in the Premier League and he helped Liverpool to one of their best seasons and they nearly won the EPL title and now he will be motivated to play well in this World Cup match, as the loser is eliminated from the knockout stage.
