The PGA Tour is live with the Quicken Loans National tournament first round at the Congressional country club and Tiger Woods returns and tees off starting up at 8:12 am ET and the TV coverage comes from CBS and the Golf Channel and Woods is now back after a three month layoff and he will be the main focus along with Jordan Spieth after the way he has performed this year.
Woods is back and he said that he is feeling healthy and physically well for the first time in months and he now has the chance to get back on track ahead of the British Open. Woods was hoping to return for the major Open Championship at Royal Liverpool and he should be ready for that along with the PGA Championship and Woods said that he is fully recovered and is not worried about getting injured again. Woods did not have a good start to the year and now he has the chance to put in some good work ahead of the major, as he is still sitting on 14 career titles.
Woods said that he likely would have sat this one out had his foundation not been a partner, but he also said getting more golf in will help and that there is no risk for him coming back now as opposed to a week or two. Woods missed the US Open and the Masters, which was the first time he had to miss that and at first some thought he would be out for the rest of the season. Woods had a great start to last year, winning three times ahead of the Masters and he won five times on tour during the season, getting his number one ranking back. Adam Scott is number one now and Woods said that he is looking to try and get back to form and is focusing on this week before the major coming up. Woods had to stay away from practice and golf while working back from his injury and now he has the chance to compete again.
Woods will be playing with Spieth and Jason Day and they will start up at 8:12 am on Thursday for the first round and then at 1:12 pm ET on Friday number one after the Thursday start on the 10th tee. Woods is coming back after last playing in the WGC-Cadillac Championship and that was way back in March and now he thinks he finally has the chance to come back fully healthy after being banged up all year.
