The Phoenix Suns had a solid season in 2013-14 and now the team could look at a trade with Goran Dragic or a sign and trade with restricted free agent Eric Bledsoe after the draft, as the team picked Tyler Ennis in the first round and that could lead to the team trading their point guard to allow Ennis to step up and develop next year.
The Suns had a very good season based on where experts predicted them to finish, as they were just out of the playoff standings in the west after many thought they would be in line for a top three pick. According to Pro Basketball Talk, the team came into the offseason looking to sign Bledsoe and also looking to start building around Dragic, but now that they have drafted Ennis, the future for Dragic in a Phoenix uniform is unclear. Dragic came up in trade rumors earlier in the season and now teams in need of a point guard could look at him, including the Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, NY Knicks or Raptors if they lose Kyle Lowry.
Bledsoe will be a restricted free agent starting on July 1 and he likely will be the most targeted RFA along with Chandler Parsons and those two players could have similar suitors. According to SB Nation, the Suns can't trade Bledsoe yet anyway since he is an RFA and they will need to work with him to figure out a sign and trade if they want to deal him or can't sign him themselves. Pro Basketball Talk reports that Suns General Manager Ryan McDonough said that he wants to try and retain Bledsoe on a deal this summer rather than try and match offers for him, but that he will also let the process play out as they try and negotiate with him.
Dragic had a very solid season with 20.3 points and 5.9 assists and he was one of the most improved players of the year and now that Ennis is coming in, the Suns could look at making a move to add more draft picks or a veteran player. Last season the team tried to trade for Pau Gasol and now they could try and sign him or bring over another established player. The team was mentioned as a potential option for Kevin Love since they had the draft picks to make a deal, but right now there is no movement on that front. Earlier in the offseason Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe and draft picks were mentioned as a deal for Kevin Love, but that never got hot on either side.
The Raptors also could be an interesting option for this deal, as they could potentially lose Kyle Lowry as a free agent and that would create a void at point guard for the team. Lowry played very well last season and Miami is doing whatever they can to keep LeBron and that could mean ponying up the cash to sign Lowry. The team has already traded for Shabazz Napier and LeBron was very happy with that move and that could be step one in keeping their star happy.
