Wow.
Could Rafael Nadal look much worse at the end of Thursday's second round of Wimbledon?
Lukas Rosol, who is ranked 100 in the tournament, put out Nadal with two straight aces to win the final set of the match.
The final scores were 6(9)-7(11), 6-4, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 in favor of Rosol.
You can tell something was wrong right from the start when Nadal had a lot of trouble putting Rosol away.
I feel somewhat guilty for jinxing him saying it would be an easy matchup since Nadal was facing a player with a lot less experience and success.
Rosol proved that skill exceeds experience in this case.
He finished with 22 aces, three more than Nadal and found a way to win despite committing 29 unforced errors compared to Nadal's 14.
His serving speeds were faster than Nadal's. Rosol's average serving speed on the first serve was 124 MPH, while Nadal brought it up to 118MPH. The second serve average speed was 101 MPH while Nadal's was just 95 MPH.
For Nadal, it is the first time he has been removed from competition in the second round of a Grand Slam tournament since 2005 in Wimbledon. He was the runner up in last year's Wimbledon and was the champion in 2010.
Back in 2005, Nadal had just won Roland Garros before his second round elimination, which was similar to this year. Nadal was the champion in the 2012 Roland Garros.
Now Nadal will have to root from home and wait for the U.S. Open to commence.
Rosol will now move into the third round of a Grand Slam tournament for the second time in his career.
He will face Philipp Kohlschreiber from German and ranked 27th in the tournament.
