The World Cup 2014 Round of 16 bracket has the Netherlands and Costa Rica moving on, as they won against Mexico and Greece and now they are through in the knockout stage in Brazil and they both won in dramatic fashion, with the Dutch side winning while Costa Rica and the Greek team went to penalty kicks.
Costa Rica had to play with 10 men in the second half and now their amazing run has continued and they are a dark horse for this tournament along with the United States. Mexico now heads home once again after the round of 16 and they have never made it past this round in team history and this is one that they will be looking back on for many years. The Mexican side had the lead for a long period in the game and the team allowed a tying goal in the 88th minute and then got called for a penalty in stoppage time that was converted and that sent the Dutch through in a miracle of a finish.
Arjen Robben brought the ball in close to the goal in the penalty area and baited some contact and he was tripped up and ref blew the whistle. The Mexican side was furious and they disagreed with the call and the Dutch side was able to put the kick through and Miguel Herrera was angry afterwards and now they are done and the Netherlands has continued a great run after falling in the finals against Spain in 2010.
Costa Rica now plays against Netherlands after having an amazing game against Greece and now they are through from the round of 16. The team is into the quarterfinals for the first time and the team went from having the lead to losing it while playing with a man down for 55 minutes and they ended up advancing on penalties 5-3 for the win and they are now through.
