The Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in Chandler Parsons and a trade of Kevin Love to the Houston Rockets could be an option along with Ricky Rubio if the Wolves want to snag the restricted free agent and this comes as teams like the Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, NY Knicks, LA Lakers, Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns are interested in trading.
According to Yahoo Sports, the Wolves are interested in adding Parsons and getting him into the mix could be an option with a Kevin Love deal to the Rockets. Houston has long been interested in the Kevin Love deal and they have also been looking into signing Carmelo Anthony as a free agent
Love is a free agent after this year with the same type of opt out and he has been mentioned in all types of trade rumors over the past couple years and this is the summer it could go down. While a deal is unlikely because of how much the Timberwolves "love" Love, they also realize that there is a good chance he will leave the team and they will get no thin in return once he is a free agent, so it might be worth it to trade him before that happens. Situations like this played out with Dwight Howard and Anthony and they both ended up getting traded and that could happen with Love, but it might not be until the deadline next season.
Love and the possibility of a trade will be front and center once again this summer and teams like the Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers will be making calls to the Timberwolves and this comes as LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony are set to become free agents this summer with opt outs on their contracts.
The Timberwolves missed the playoffs again this year, but they challenged for a playoff spot and next season if they get into the mix again, they may hold off on trading love. According to ESPN.com reporter Marc Stein, there are a number of teams that will at least make inquiries this summer about Love and it includes the Rockets, Celtics, Lakers, Knicks and Bulls. Stein writes that Anthony will have potential landing spots in Chicago and Houston, while LeBron James also will get wooed by some of these teams but he ultimately will remain in Miami.
The Rockets are a team that is expected to be active this offseason as well and this comes after they lost in the playoffs to the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. The Rockets have Dwight Howard and James Harden and they are looking for another superstar to add to the team and Anthony, Rajon Rondo or Love could be in the mix. GM Daryl Morey is going to make a strong push for Anthony and he has long loved Rondo and that will be his main focus after the playoffs this season. The Celtics and Rockets almost pulled off a deal with Rondo last season, but the team balked on putting Chandler Parsons in a deal with Omer Asik.
