The NBA offseason has officially started and along with free agency, trade rumors will begin popping up more and more and names like Kevin Love, Greg Monroe, Thaddeus Young, LaMarcus Aldridge, Michael Carter-Williams, Josh Smith, Matt Barnes, Jared Dudley and Kenneth Faried all could be traded, as teams like the LA Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and NY Knicks are interested in making moves.
Kevin Love has been the main player in trade talks this offseason, as the Timberwolves know that he wants to opt out of his deal when he gets the chance and teams like the Rockets, Warriors, Knicks, Lakers, Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls have all shown interest in making a move. Greg Monroe is a restricted free agent and depending on what offers he gets, the Detroit Pistons may want to look at a sign and trade for him since they already have Josh Smith and Andre Drummond. Speaking of Smith, he has come up in trade talks this summer, as reports from Yahoo and ESPN had the Sacramento Kings interested in making a deal, but the two sides did not come to an agreement. Smith is making a ton of money and now that Stan Van Gundy is in the fold, he could be on his way out.
Thaddeus Young was one of the main targets for teams at the trade deadline last season, but the Sixers opted to trade Evan Turner instead. This year the team may look at trading him along with Michael Carter-Williams, as the Lakers have shown interest in both players. The 76ers drafted a point guard in Elfrid Payton and then traded him to the Magic and that likely means Carter-Williams will stay, but there is a chance the Lakers could make a move for him. The Sixers are a rebuilding team and they draft Joel Embiid a year after trading for Nerlens Noel and that means they are on a long term plan.
The Denver Nuggets jumped into the Love trade talks and Kenneth Faried was an option in a proposed deal, but nothing went down between the teams. Love is also a target for the Warriors and their trade talks broke down after Klay Thompson was brought into the fold and that is one thing that could block the deal from happening. The Lakers tried to get into the mix for a three way to get Thompson, but that was before the draft and now the Warriors may have to figure out another way to get the deal done.
Matt Barnes and Jared Dudley are being shopped by the Clippers and this comes as Doc Rivers is trying to make a couple additions after the playoff run last season. According to ESPN.com, Luol Deng is an option and they are looking to clear some cap space to try and sign him. The Clippers could move Barnes or Dudley to help upgrade at the small forward position, while the Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks are also interested in signing him. Love is the biggest target and he could be traded this summer or at the deadline next season.
