The Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins are playing on the MLB schedule on Wednesday and the game is streaming online from MLB.com and comes from Target Field as Jason Vargas and Kevin Correia matchup in the pitching rotation and KC is looking to stay in the playoff mix as they try and win this game against their AL Central division rivals.
The Central division has the Tigers in the lead, but the Royals have been making progress and they were in first place for a hot minute and now they are 4.5 games back. The team is looking to close the gap and the Twins come in at nine games back this season and they technically are still alive in the wild card race. Vargas has been pitching well this season and he is 7-3 and looking to add another win and he has been one of the best pitchers for the team.
The Twins come in with Joe Mauer on the DL and that is a big loss for the time being and after a solid start, the team has slumped back to earth. Kendrys Morales has been solid for the Twins since signing this summer and the team has gotten some nice play from former Yankee Eduardo Nunez and now they will try and get things together in the series finale and it comes as Mauer was injured in the previous win for the team. The Royals lost that game after allowing 10 runs and they have a big series coming up with the Cleveland Indians.
The game on Friday has the Royals travelling to Cleveland and they will be looking to right the ship, as they are three games over .500 and they want to remain on the winning side of things this season. The Royals snapped a huge streak of losing records last year and now they have their sights set on the playoffs. The new wild card means that teams in the AL can stay alive even when they are out of the division race and the royals come into the game ranked fourth in the league in batting and 14th in runs scored.
The Twins got the win against the Royals and this is big that Mauer is injured, as he was hitting very well and now the team will have to find a way to keep things going without him. The team is ranked 13th in runs and 23rd in the league in batting average and they are also ninth in on base percentage. The pitching has been a mess and if they can get that together they will be in better position in the division, as they are ranked 26th in ERA and 28th in Baa, while they are also 25th in quality starts.
