The Tour de France is live on NBC and the NBCSN Sports Live Extra website starting on Saturday and the cycling race begins in England before moving to France for the first stage and comes for the 101st ever event in the cycling race and it is the fourth time a stage will be in England and the TV schedule continues each day in the morning on NBCSN and has a replay later in the day.
The first stage of the race comes from Leeds and heads to Harrogate and that ends at 12 pm ET and then on Sunday it will be stage 2 and that goes from York to Sheffield and will be on TV at the same time as Saturday. Stage 3 comes on Monday and starts up at 8 am and that will be from Cambridge to London and comes ahead of Tuesday, which has Le Touquet-Paris-Plage to Lille and then leads into Stage 5 on Wednesday. The race is a long one and continues on Thursday with Arras to Reims at 8 am again and then the event continues over the following weeks until the eventual finish in Paris.
The race will last just over three weeks and it starts up on Saturday and continues over 2,200 miles through the United Kingdom and obviously France and each stage has potentially 100 miles for each of the riders. Rest days will be important and this year the race mirrors 2007 and that was considered a very tough year and this time around the weather should be a factor for the riders as well.
Tejay van Garderen finished fifth in 2012 and he is looking to have a good performance, but he will not have to worry about Bradley Wiggins, as he will be out of the race this year after previously being a winner in the event. Wiggins was the first British rider to win and he said that the team is focusing on Chris Froome winning again and ESPN.com reported last month that he was not selected to compete in the Criterium du Dauphine and it comes as his contract is up at the end of the season and he came in agfter winning the Tour of California. Froome said he had no role in dropping Wiggins and now he heads into the Tour de France looking to make an impact.
The race has 21 stages and the event will be over 23 days and airs on NBCSN for the duration and also has some coverage over the weekend on NBC and the live extra website has the online stream for the race, which will go from England to France this year. The race will go through flatlands and mountains, including the Alps and even the Pyrenees and this year it will be a very tough route and some have speculated it could be one of the hardest ever and things kick off in Leeds and starts off in Yorkshire for the first stage and then it will be from York to Sheffield after coming into Harrogate.
