The San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's are playing on the MLB schedule on Monday night in the Bay Bridge interleague series at O.co Coliseum and the Athletics come into the game as the best team in baseball and the matchup starts at 10:05 pm ET with Ryan Vogelsong and Jesse Chavez on the hill for the west teams.
The Giants and Athletics have been two of the best teams in baseball this season and they could potentially matchup in the World Series. The Athletics made a huge trade to get Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel for their best prospect and now they are the favorites in the American League. The Giants were leading the NL west big before slumping and allowing the Dodgers to catch-up, but they are still one of the top teams in the league and are just a half game behind the Giants in the standings. The A's are 20 games over .500 and the team has Josh Donaldson as one of All-Stars representing the AL, while Hunter Pence is an All-Star as well on the NL side. Vogelsong has pitched well and he is looking to have another good start after giving up one run in his last start against the Reds.
The Giants comes into the game after getting another win against the Padres with Tim Lincecum on the mound and now Vogelsong takes the hill before Sonny Gray matches up with Madison Bumgarner on Tuesday. The Giants are 49-39 on the season and they are battling with the Dodgers and they are ranked 19th in runs scored and 21st in batting average and 11th in slugging this season. The pitching has been top notch and they are ranked in the top 10 in ERA, WHIP and BAA this year and that has been carrying the team.
The Athletics are ranked first in the league in runs and they are third in on base percentage and they have been very impressive all year and now are even better after the Cubs trade. Jeff Samardzija won his first start with the team and now he gives the A's a massive boost in the rotation and they are already great, ranking second in ERA, WHIP and BAA and in fifth in quality starts this year.
