The Detroit Tigers and LA Dodgers are starting up a two game interleague series on Tuesday from Comerica Park and the matchup is on MLB Network and streaming online starting up at 7:08 pm ET and has two of the best teams in baseball as Justin Verlander and Hyun-jin Ryu matching up in the pitching duel as names like Miguel Cabrera and Yasiel Puig take center stage ahead of the All-Star game.
The Dodgers have been the hottest team in baseball recently and they have moved into first place in the division after taking the Giants down in the west. The team made up 10 games and now they have the chance to take the division lead into the All-Star break and this year they have players going, including Clayton Kershaw and Puig, who has been electric once again. The Dodgers are starting to get hot and while they put Josh Beckett on the DL, the team has been great in the rotation and they are coming into the game after he won on Sunday against the Colorado Rockies.
The Tigers matchup with Max Scherzer and Zack Greinke on Wednesday and that will be a great matchup after Verlander goes against Ryu and he comes in struggling a bit and is looking to get back on track. The Dodgers come into the game ranked in the top 10 in all important categories, including eighth in runs, seventh in batting average and fifth in on base percentage and that is one reason why they have been playing so well.
The Tigers are one of the favorites in the American League and the Dodgers have taken that mantle now in the NL and this could be a potential World Series preview. The pitching for the Dodgers has also been excellent and they are sixth in ERA and third in quality starts and the team is also in the top 10 in WHIP and BAA this year. The team is in first by a full game now in the west and if they can take that title this year, it will be huge for the team heading into the playoffs.
The Tigers are very good offensively as well and they are in the top five in batting average and slugging due to the play of Cabrera and Victor Martinez, while the team is sixth in runs and the same in on base percentage. The team lost to the Rays on Sunday with David Price on the mound and that saw Rick Porcello fall to 11-5 and he is having a nice season. Greinke and Scherzer is a great matchup and they have 21 combined wins and just seven losses and those players could be key for both teams down the stretch this season.
