The NFL offseason is winding down and with training camps starting up, some trades could be in the works and names like LaMichael James, Denarius Moore, Danny Amendola, Kirk Cousins, Ryan Mallett, Matt McGloin, Mike Wallace, Dion Jordan or Josh Gordon could be potential targets for teams as the Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins, New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins consider deals.
The NFL doesn't usually have trades this late in the offseason, but NFL.com writes that there are some solid trade candidates this summer and the backup quarterbacks litter the list. James has been shopped since the NFL draft and after the 49ers drafted Carlos Hyde, there is a good chance he will be traded at some point. Had the Philadelphia Eagles not traded for Darren Sproles, this would be a deal that Chip Kelly makes in a heartbeat
Kirk Cousins and the other backups are likely staying put, as teams this offseason have shown that they want to keep an experienced player behind their QBs rather than rookies. Cousins was a trade target for the Cleveland Browns before they took Johnny Manziel and they offered a fourth round pick for him. Cousins is likely staying put, as is Ryan Mallett, as he is coming into the last year of his contract and Bill Belichick likes him as the backup for Tom Brady. The team has Jimmy Garoppolo coming in, but he is not ready for that role yet and that is why he was not traded.
Same goes for McGloin, as the Raiders have Derek Carr coming in behind Matt Schaub, but right now he has not shown enough for the team to trade McGloin. The Houston Texans looked like a solid destination for McGloin or Mallett, but Bill O'Brien appears to be sticking with Ryan Fitzpatrick and is not making another move. The Texans are coming back after a 2-14 season and they have high hopes for this year after taking Jadeveon Clowney.
The Dolphins are in an interesting situation, as they have Jordan and Wallace and they could easily trade those players to teams with needs at those positions. GM Dennis Hickey isn't looking o blow up his team, but with the way Wallace performed last year along with Jordan and now Jordan's suspension, there is a chance those player are not long for Miami, even if the trade doesn't happen this year. Miami is projected to be one of the worst teams in the AFC East this season and they need a ton to go right to make the playoffs after how mediocre and inconsistent they were last year.
