The Cleveland Cavaliers are going hard for LeBron James and the team has traded Jarrett Jack for cap space and now Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson, Anderson Varejao and Anthony Bennett could be some other trades the team makes as they try and convince James to come back home and sign with the Cavs to try and win a championship with Kyrie Irving and this goes as Pat Riley and the Miami Heat are meeting James in Las Vegas Wednesday.
ESPN has gone wall to wall with LeBron James coverage since he hit free agency and now the Miami Heat is meeting with him in Las Vegas for a last pitch with Pat Riley. According to ESPN.com, the Cavaliers are making a strong push for James and they have already started making moves, including trading Jarrett Jack to clear cap space. The Miami Heat have signed Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger and Riley also feels that the Big will return as well with James. If Chris Bosh signs with the Rockets after they gave him a max contract, it could change everything.
Carmelo Anthony is reportedly waiting for James to make his decision before he makes a move and that has basically held up the entire NBA free agency period. Names like Chandler Parsons, Luol Deng and Pau Gasol have had to wait and see what James and Anthony are doing, as teams like the Houston Rockets, LA Lakers, Heat and Knicks are scared to make major moves until the chips start to fall. The cavaliers, according to ESPN.com, feel they have a realistic shot to lure back James and this comes four years after he left in the decision.
Since then the team has not had any real success except in the draft lottery and now they have three number one overall picks in Kyrie Irving, Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett. The team also has players they can move and names like Dion Waiters, Tristan Thomson and Anderson Varejao could be traded to help clear more cap space. James has said that he wants a max contract of $20 million and that is why the Cavs are trying to clear out space.
According to ESPN.com, the Cavaliers have engaged with Mike Miller and Ray Allen to try and convince James to sign, as both are free agents and both have played alongside LeBron and won championships with him. The Heat got rid of Miller before last season, while Allen has been a teammate of LeBron's for a couple years and he has said he loves playing with him. Allen is getting up there in age, but he is looking to come back after scoring nine points per game in the playoffs and he was healthy enough to play in all 20 and he wants to play alongside James once more, but it could be in Cleveland or Miami.
The Heat traded for Shabazz Napier, who James called his favorite college player, and they also could look at Pau Gasol, Mike Miller and Ray Allen as ways to bring back James. The Cavaliers are now looking at Miller and Allen as well and if they can get one of those players in, it could convince James to sign back up.
