It is July 1st and this means players who did not reach any agreements their 2011-2012 teams are now free agents.
Ever since Deron Williams arrived to New Jersey, there have been talks of possible trades. Now it is too late for that and all the Nets can hope for now is that they can reach an accord with the guard.
Williams has a $17.8 million player option for the upcoming season. He is set to meet with the Nets and the Dallas Mavericks.
Steve Nash is also a coveted guard on the list. Talks have mentioned Nash being interested in the New York Knicks. Recently, Alan Hahn, Knicks analyst, said the team made Nash their number one priority.
In order to land Nash, the Knicks would have to do a sign and trade, possibly losing pieces in the deal.
The Knicks have said to also be interested in veteran guards, ex-Knick Raymond Felton and Jason Kidd.
Both guards are unrestricted free agents and would team-up with Jeremy Lin.
Kidd and Nash are players Lin could learn from. Both players are seasoned veterans that Lin has been compared to frequently in his short career.
The following is the list of all free agent point guards on the market and their 2011-2012 teams.
