Andre Johnson Trade Rumors 2014: Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, Patriots, Panthers Options For Texans Move?

The Houston Texans have been dealing with Andre Johnson trade rumors all offseason and now four teams are reportedly interested and the Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers, NY Jets and Miami Dolphins could be some of those intrigued by a move, but the Texans so far have been unwilling to trade their star wideout and this could extend into training camp.

According to NFL.com, four teams are interested in trading for Johnson and while those teams have not yet been revealed, numerous options are out there and some that make sense include the Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers and Miami Dolphins. The Raiders and Browns have the cap space to make a move, while the Patriots could be motivated to make a deal to make a big jump for a Super Bowl run. The Jets and Panthers have also been mentioned as a potential destination for Johnson.

The Texans may look at trading Johnson during the season or next year, but right now it appears they will hang into their star wideout to see if a deal can get reached at some point. Johnson has not demanded a new contract or a trade, but he has been disgruntled all offseason with the Texans and is hoping for a change in situation. Johnson caught 109 passes for 1,407 yards last season and he was once again one of the best receivers in football and now his future is in question.

Johnson said earlier in the offseason that he was frustrated with the progress the Houston Texans have made and that he is yearning to be back in the playoffs. Johnson does not want to be on a rebuilding team and after going 2-14, that's what he thinks the Texans are. The team signed Ryan Fitzpatrick and drafted Tom Savage at QB after trading Matt Schaub and that could be another point of contention for him, as Johnson and Schaub put up great numbers over the years. Fitz is a solid QB and Schaub had a bad year and now Johnson has to decide what his next move is.

The Texans lost 14 straight games last season after opening 2-0 and Johnson has not been pleased about a new coaching staff and the potential of another rebuilding year. Johnson has spent his entire career with the Texans and a bone of contention according to local reports is a $1 million bonus that the Texans did not give Johnson a chance to recoup after being away from activities. Johnson has dead money on him for the Texans if he is moved and that is another part of it and now he is looking to get into a better situation.

Once training camp starts and Johnson is away, this will start to get really real and the Texans will have to start making hard choices. That will be the next major part of the schedule and Johnson would be an immediate upgrade to any of these teams moving forward. The Texans do not want to deal the WR, but they may not have another choice once training camp starts.
