The Miami Heat Big Three is no more. Free agency has disbanded LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade after four years and two NBA titles. Now, Bosh signed a max contract to remain in South Beach. James signed a two-year deal to head back to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Wade remains in the balances, still determining his future. The Heat are left to pick up the pieces after losing out on the four-time MVP, but Bosh is convinced it will not be an issue.
Both Wade and Bosh have come out in support of James' decision to "return home" after signing a deal with the Cavaliers. While working with NBA Africa, Bosh told media that he certainly did not hold a grudge against James for heading elsewhere and is convinced that the move and shakeup of the roster will not factor into the team's chemistry for next season.
"We're all making decisions to make ourselves happy and our families happy," Bosh said, via ESPN.com. "That doesn't take away what we've done together and the special bond that we created and the special bond that we have and just all the memories that we had together. That will never change. As you move forward, you appreciate those moments and keep going forward. I think right now we have the correct infrastructure to compete for a championship. We have to get much better at certain positions, and there's a bunch of things that have to continue to happen. But you know a team like the Spurs, they had a lot of guys that people underestimate, but as a team, they were outstanding."
Now the Heat must begin filling the holes with the extra money saved by James' exit. The Heat went out and signed guard Luol Deng, pulling him away from leading contenders the Atlanta Hawks. According to ESPN they are also in the process of re-signing Mario Chalmers who was not expecting to return in free agency. They also have newly drafted Shabazz Napier joining the roster and possibly James Ennis who was the 2013 draft pick. They can still target a few more players in free agency, mainly Chris Andersen and possibly Mike Miller. According to Bosh, no matter what, Miami will still be contenders.
"I think over these few years, Dwyane and I have developed a bond as well," Bosh said. "I think that's going to really help us going forward."
