Arsenal Transfer News: Hugo Lloris Linked With Gunners Move

Arsenal have been alerted after Lyon admitted goalkeeper Hugo Lloris can leave the club if a right offer came in.

The 25-year-old, one of Europe's most highly-rated goalkeepers, has been heavily linked with a move away from Lyon according to reports in France, with Arsenal reportedly leading the chase.

The Gunners have also been linked with the French international, who was France's first choice in Euro 2012, in previous seasons, but have been put off by Lloris' heavy price tag.

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest and Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said it would take a good offer for the former French champions to let go of one of their prized assets. "Lloris can go, but only for a decent price in relation to the market," Aulas told TF1.

It is understood Wenger is looking to bring in a goalkeeper to provide competition for Wojciech Szczesny. Manuel Almunia has already been released by the club with Lukas Fabianski and Vitto Manone also expected to move on. Arsenal have also been linked with Udinese goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and Palermo's Emiliano Viviano.

Wenger is determined to strengthen Arsenal in all departments for next season and sees depth in squad as a priority if the Gunners are to realistically compete for the English Premier League and the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Arsenal left-back Andre Santos hoped his side would continue to strengthen after bringing in Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud.

"Arsenal is definitely a great club, one of the best in the world," Santos told theelastico.com. "We have got to think about winning titles -- English champions, European champions.

"Those are certainly the objectives for next season. Arsenal must think big... I have had a few targets in my mind. To make the supporters, who steer us forward and always fill the stadium, happy. Ensure that Arsenal get back to where they belong -- at the top.

Speaking about the Robin Van Persie situation, Santos said: "Van Persie has an excellent campaign behind him.

"I do not know what his situation at the club is now -- whether he stays or not. He loves the club and is already eight years at the club and his season was really incredible.

"Arsenal will definitely talk to him and do everything to keep him at the club so he can help us next season. At this time I hope he makes the choice that is best for his career and his life. But no doubt that our players want Van Persie to remain.

"Robin is an excellent player and striker. He is one of few world class strikers today. He has definitely proven that this season. He is fantastic, both on and off the field. He helps our team a lot and I think he can play for any club in the world."
