The 2014 All Star game was won by the AL and Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels was named MVP on the night Derek Jeter was honored and now the American League has home field advantage in the World Series this year after winning 5-3 in Minnesota.

Trout became the youngest MVP in the game since Ken Griffey and Jeter ended up with two hits and a run in the matchup, while Miguel Cabrera hit a home run as the American League took the game for the second straight season. Felix Hernandez started the game for the AL and was fantastic, striking out Troy Tulowitzki and Yasiel Puig to get out of the inning after an Andrew McCutchen hit.

Jeter was taken out of the game later for Alexi Ramirez and he was given a long standing ovation and the game was back and forth, with the National League tying things up 3-3 before the AL went ahead. Jeter played in his 14th all star game and now he is on his way to retirement and the young guns of the league showed what they can do, as Trout ended up with the MVP award. Max Scherzer ended up with the win and Glen Perkins got the save in his home ballpark.

John Farrell made all the right moves and now the AL has home field advantage in the World Series.
