There was fourth-round action from Wimbledon on Monday that helped slim down the competition.
However, a lot of the matches were postponed or cancelled. Mother nature had something against the Gentlemen's Singles as five out of the eight matches were cancelled.
All of the Ladies' Singles draws were played, which was probably bad news for Maria Sharapova (1) who lost to Sabine Lisicki (15) 6-4, 6-3.
Novak Djokovic no. 1 ranked in the Men's Singles was able to get his match in at Centre Court. With a closed roof, he did not share the same fate as Sharapova and defeated Viktor Troicki (34) in three straight rounds 6-3,6-1, 6-3.
Serena Williams continues to mow down the competition as she passed onto the Quarterfinals after defeating Yaroslava Shvedova in three hard played sets 6-1, 2-6, 7-5.
Roger Federer also finds himself in the Quarterfinals after starting the day off with a victory over Belgium's Xavier Malisse (75) by the scores of 7-6, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Mikhail Youzhny (33) defeated Denis Istomin (39) 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, 6-7, 7-5.
In other action from Monday, second ranked Victoria Azarenka grunted her way to an easy win over Ana Ivanovic (14) 6-1, 6-0. Agnieszka Radwanska won (3) 6-2, 6-3 over Camila Giorgi, who came into Wimbledon ranked 145th.
Petra Kvitova (4) defeated Francesca Schiavone (26) in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. Angelique Kerber (8) move on after easily beating Kim Clijsters (47) 6-1, 6-0.
Maria Kirilenko (19) proceeded to the quarters after beating Shuai Peng (34) 6-1. 6-7, 6-3.
Tamira Paszek (39) beat Roberta Vinci (23) easily in two straight 6-2, 6-2.
Action continues tomorrow in the 8th day of Wimbledon.
