The last day of swimming trials arrived and the U.S. has completed its team of Olympians.
In the Women's 50m Freestyle, Jessica Hardy captured first place posting a 24.50. Kara Lynn Joyce came in at second place with a 24.73.
Christine Magnuson made second place a battle after missing the cut just .05 seconds behind Joyce.
The story of the night, however, was the fourth place finisher Dara Torres. The 45-year old five time olympian and 12-time gold medal winner could not qualify for London 2012.
She had been representing the U.S. since 1984 and after a long prolific career she finally calls it quits.
Torres' highlight of her career? Being able to race for that long.
The final race of the trials was the Men's 1500m Freestyle. Chad La Tourette went for it early on, but ran out of steam.
Andrew Gemmel and Connor Jaeger, both 21-years old, will be going to their first Olympics. Gemmell finished in 14:52.19, while Jaeger posted a 14:52.51.
In other U.S. swimming news, Phelps and his coach decided to drop the 200m Freestyle from the program. They want Phelps to be fresh before the 400m Individual Medley and noticed that he would be in two 200m events prior to the race.
Missy Franklin has a chance to prove herself in London as she will participate in seven Olympic events.
The next time we will see these racers will be in London. The Olympics kick off on July 27th.
