Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Portugal playmaker Joao Moutinho, according to the The Sun.
Moutinho had an impressive Euro 2012 campaign, and, with the exception of Cristiano Ronaldo, was the stand out player for Portugal.
The FC Porto midfielder moved to the Portuguese champions two years ago for £8 million ($12.5 million) and United have sounded out Porto's representatives on a possible deal.
However, the English giants have been told Moutinho will cost the club at least £25 million ($39 million).
Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly pulled out of the deal for Luka Modric, after being put off by Tottenham Hotspur's asking price and it remains to be seen if Ferguson can come to an agreement with Porto for Moutinho, who is the highest earning player in the Portuguese league.
Meanwhile, a player definitely heading out of Old Trafford - Dimitar Berbatov - could move to Galatasaray, after the Turkish club confirmed their interest in the striker.
The Bulgarian forward has admitted his time at United is over and has been linked with the likes of Malaga, Paris St Germain and Borussia Dortmund.
However, Galatasaray have joined the chasing pack with the Turkish club's president Unal Aysal admitting his admiration for the player. "The Bulgarian is a great forward," Aysal is quoted as saying on gol.bg.
"I want him to join us but, of course, coach Fatih Terim has the final word."
Another veteran, Michael Owen, will also seek a new club after the club officially confirmed the former England international's release on Monday. Owen is reportedly in talks over a move to the United Arab Emirates.
