The New York Mets and Seattle Mariners are playing live on the MLB schedule on Wednesday for their finale at Safeco Field and the series has been split and now the teams will try and win it and the game starts at 3:40 pm ET with Taijuan Walker taking on the big man in Bartolo Colon as the Mets try and win two in a row.
The Mariners lost on Tuesday after winning on Monday and now they are trying to stay on top of the wild card race in the AL and they have teams closing in on them in the Yankees, Jays and Indians. The Mariners have not been in this position for a decade and now they have to find a way to beat the Mets on Wednesday afternoon. Erasmo Ramirez pitched a solid game for the team, but James Jones allowed a big play after missing a diving catch and that ended up being the difference in the game.
The Mets have not been a good road team and they got a nice win against the M's from young stud Jacob deGrom and now they have the Mariners coming in again with Walker. Walker is the top prospect for the Mariners and he will be on the mound amid trade rumors and this could be a big chance for him, as the M's need a win here badly and they also need the pitching to get in line.
The Mariners next play against the Orioles and that series now is massive, as the O's could end up in the wild card race eventually. The AL East is not settled and the AL West has two teams at the top, meaning the Mariners likely will have to hold off everyone else in the AL for the wild card.
