The Toronto Blue Jays continue their run in the American League East as they place their faith in a rookie pitcher to try and take three from the Boston Red Sox during this four-game series. Since being called up from the minors, Marcus Stroman has impressed the team, first as a bullpen guy and then as a starter. Can he keep up against the Red Sox?
Stroman joined the starting rotation at the end of May after a few successful appearances as a bullpen player. He is 4-3 with a 2.50 ERA in nine starts and is coming off a four-hit performance while not giving up a run in seven innings. The 23-year-old is even better at home with a 4-1 record and 1.82 ERA. The Blue Jays are liking what they see out of the rookie and are hoping he can keep things up as they look to win nine of their last 10 games.
The Toronto pitcher will haveh is hands full with the Red Sox batting lineup. David Ortiz is 5 for 14 with four homeruns and eighth RBIs in this series alone. He is looking to hit a home run in four-straight games since 2001. Brock Holt will also be returning to the lineup. The rookie is hitting .321 with three home runs since getting called up.
The Red Sox will start Rubby De La Rosa who is hoping the Red Sox can continue to average 5.4 runs per game. De La Rosa is 3-2 with a 2.64 ERA on the season and has given up just one runs and five hits in the last 14 innings. He has struggled while playing on the road. He is 0-2 with a 4.42 ERA in three road starts this seasons while being 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA in four starts at home. Toronto is a home run park and Jose Bautista will take advantage ofi t as he continues to deliver in this recent stretch for the Blue Jays.
