The MLB All-Star game in Kansas City is just a week away. Fans have the chance to pick the last player that gets chosen in both leagues. After two days of voting, Yu Darvish has the lead in the American League.
Darvish has made a great impact on the Texas Rangers' starting rotation. He already has 10 wins and 117 strikeouts. However, the pitcher does not feel like he should receive the honors of being an All-Star.
It would be great to have Darvish in the Mid-Summer Classic. For a pitcher in his first season in the Majors, he is capable of competing. History has taught us Japanese pitchers usually take some time to adjust to MLB hitters, but Darvish has done a pretty decent job so far.
Aside from Darvish, fans can also vote for Jonathan Broxton (KC), Ernesto Frieri (LAA), Jason Hammel (BAL) or Jake Peavy (CWS).
Broxton, who closes for the hosting team, Kansas City Royals, has 20 saves with a 2.05 ERA in 2012. This is a bounce-back year for him after struggling with the Los Angeles Dodgers the last couple of seasons.
Frieri is having an incredible 2012 season. He has not allowed an earned run in 24.1 innings pitched from the bullepn. He has 10 saves and a 0.90 WHIP.
Hammel was one of the pitchers responsible for having the Baltimore Orioles in first place for a good portion of the beginning of the season. He has 8 wins and 97 strikeouts this season.
Jake Peavy, who was an ace when he pitched for the San Diego Padres, has showed he still has a lot left. This season he has only six wins but he has thrown over 110 innings and has 101 strikeouts. He also has a 2.96 ERA.
The All-Star game is set to be played on July, 10th. To vote you can click on the link below.
